Col D’Orcia Rosso di Montalcino DOC “Banditella” (2016)
A modern interpretation of a Montalcino classic: a special selection from a great Sangiovese vineyard, is vinified and refined with advanced methods and technologies.
Vineyard: Banditella is a vineyard planted in 1998, where the Sangiovese clones were chosen through a process of selecting the company clones with the advice of the University of Florence, which lasted 10 years. The Banditella vineyard provides one of the best expressions of the Sangiovese grape. Altitude: 300 mt. s.l.m. Manual harvest with rigorous selection of the bunches.
Grapes: Sangiovese 100%
Vinification: Medium-long maceration in low and wide vats at temperatures no higher than 28 ° to maintain a fresh and long-lived fruit. Two daily pumping over, combined with 2 délestages on the 3rd and 5th day of fermentation, favor an effective but delicate extraction of color and tannins from the skins, followed by aging for one year in barriques and tonneaux
Tasting notes: intense ruby red color, with light violet reflections, intense, full and powerful aroma. The typical hints of ripe fruit of the cultivar are accompanied by toasted and vanilla notes given by the wood, on the palate it is a wine of great structure, with ripe and powerful tannins. There is a good balance between fruity notes and acidity. Full, long and persistent aftertaste.
Pairings: red meats, cold cuts and aged cheeses.
Format: 750 ml
