Le Piane Boca DOC “Plinius” (2007)
Le Piane Boca DOC “Plinius” (2013)
Plinius Le Piane Boca 2007 is rare, you will find few bottles around, but it is one of those wines that illuminates the soul.
Grapes: Nebbiolo 85%, Vespolina 15%
Vinification: Fermentation and maceration on the skins for 30 days. Use of indigenous yeasts
Aging: 60 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, then 12 months in the bottle
Tasting notes: At sight it has an intense ruby red color, with purple reflections, the ethereal notes are amazing, the fruit is fine, whispered, a reminder of woods, earth and small fruits, the balsamic tones are enveloping, hypnotic and then there are the rocks. The minerality is crazy, in the mouth it is subtle, however it shows a Carthusian and dense texture, all inlaid with rocks, licorice, roots and truffles. The fruit is graceful, already launched in a crazy evolution: raspberries in alcohol, blackberries, all played on an elegant dynamism. It never stands still, but the tone is austere: flowers withered at every step, lacquer and then the tannins that give shape to a fabulous embroidery. Do not expect the structure of a Barolo, here we are at high altitude. Endless ending, with earthy memories.
Pairings: Pasta with meat sauce, game and roast meats
Format: 750 ml
