It is in the territory of Castelnuovo dell’Abate that the oldest attestation (early 14th century) of the most famous wine produced in those districts has been traced: it is the toponym “Vallocchio Brunello”, located between “Podio Rubeo” and “Piage. di Monte Caprile. ”This is where the company’s five oldest vineyards extend and since 2010, only in excellent vintages, this particular selection of Brunello di Montalcino has been produced, rich in structure and aromatic complexity.
Grape variety: Sangiovese 100%
Vinification: manual selection of bunches and single grapes on sorting benches. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation for 30 days in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature (maximum 30 ° C).
Aging in wood: 24 months, 50% in 500 l tonneaux. and 50% in oak barrels of 30 hl.
Bottle aging: 18 months.
Tasting notes: intense ruby red color with garnet reflections on the nose, it presents sweet spices such as cardamom followed by pleasant sweet notes of caramel and sugar glaze. The mouthfeel presents balsamic notes of eucalyptus, spicy notes, pepper and fruity notes of black cherry. Structured and full-bodied with soft tannins that give softness to the finish.
