Avignonesi “In Grandi Annate” Toscana IGT Sangiovese (2016)
Grandi Annate is produced exclusively in the best years, when the conditions exist to create a pure Sangiovese, which stands out for its character, structure and aging potential.
Grape varieties: 100% Sangiovese
Vineyards: 29% Le Badelle: planted in 2000 at 340 meters above sea level, exposed to the north-east, spurred cordon system, 5,880 vines / hectare. 30% Ocean: planted in 2001 at 280 meters above sea level, exposed east-west, sapling system, 5,128 vines / hectare. 31% La Banditella: planted in 2002 at 310 meters above sea level, exposed to the north, spurred cordon system, 4,464 vines/hectare. 10% El Grasso: planted in 2004 at 310 meters above sea level, exposed to the south-west, spurred cordon system, 4,440 vines / hectare.
Harvest: the grapes were harvested between September 28th and 29th
Vinification:Each batch was vinified separately and the alcoholic fermentation was spontaneous, with the use of indigenous yeasts. The alcoholic fermentation, with subsequent maceration on the skins, lasted up to 30 days, depending on the individual batches.
Aging: 18 months for 85% in oak barrels and 15% in used tonneaus (500 L) and barriques (225 L). 50% of the barrels are new, the other 50% first pass. The wine was bottled in December 2018.
Tasting Notes: of a beautiful bright ruby red colour, the nose expresses aromas of violet, lavender, blackberries, blueberry juice, tamarind, with notes of sandalwood, incense and cloves. In the mouth it is soft with silky tannins supported by good acidity, tasty, balanced and with a very long taste-olfactory persistence.
Pairing: ideal with game and roasted and grilled red meats, perfect as a meditation wine.
Format: 750 ml
