Massolino “Vigna Rionda” DOCG (2013)
Grapes: Produced with Nebbiolo grapes from the vineyard located in the Me.G.A. “Vigna Rionda” (sheet no. 8, parcels no. 79-80-81-82-84-85-86) in Serralunga d’Alba.
Vinification and aging: traditional Barolo par excellence with fermentation and maceration of 25-30 days at a temperature ranging between 31 and 33 ° C. Aged for a total of 6 years, of which 3.5 in barrels of about 30 hl in Slavonian oak and 2.5 in the bottle.
Tasting Notes: At sight: deep garnet red. On the nose: it passes from the very intense floral of the early years to the characteristic “goudron” of aging through multiple hints that are always very suggestive. On the palate: probably the most powerful of all our products, it perfectly summarizes the essential characteristics of Barolo wine such as great structure, excellent alcohol concentration and tannins capable of guaranteeing very long aging.
It opens slowly and reaches its maximum and truly important expression only after a few years of aging; for this reason it is put on the market in the sixth year and, a part that will become more and more consistent, in the tenth !!!!
Pairings: It expresses its maximum potential when combined with meat dishes, rich in intense and persistent aromas and flavors such as lamb or kid cuts. In addition, thanks to the marked tannins, it goes superbly with the bitter-sweet alternation of feathered and furred game. Complex wine, always evolving, able to guarantee unique sensations to refined and demanding palates.
