Banfi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG “Poggio alle Mura” (2013)
A Brunello that comes from the company’s vineyards which zoning studies, begun in 1980, have identified as the most suitable for Sangiovese.
Grapes: 100% Sangiovese
Vinification: controlled temperature fermentation (25-30°) in combined steel and Horizon French oak vats. Aged at 40% in 60 and 90 hl French oak barrels. and 60% in. 350 l French oak barrique for 2 years.
Tasting notes: Ruby red in color with garnet reflections, the nose expresses fruity aromas of blackberry and plum jam with hints of coffee, pipe tobacco and a spicy note on the finish. In the mouth the structure is full and well balanced by soft and ripe tannins. Long and persistent finish.
Pairings: long-aging wine, the best gastronomic pairing is with first and second courses of land such as pasta with meat sauce, risotto with meat and with very structured and composite dishes such as second courses of red meat, tasty game or first and second courses with mushrooms or truffles. Also perfect for international cuisine dishes based on meat or with sauces. It pairs equally well with mature cheeses (tome and Tuscan pecorino) and cured meats. Also excellent as a meditation wine
