Ar.Pe.Pe Valtellina Superiore DOCG “Rocce Rosse” Riserva
It was 1984 when, in the heart of Sassella, Arturo Pelizzatti Perego (ARPEPE) refurbished the vineyard at 400 meters above sea level, inherited from his father, and decided to produce a wine that could only be made with Nebbiolo delle Alpi, which we simply called Chiavennasca in those days. After 6 years he decided it was time to find him a name and with the complicity of his wife Giovanna they called him Rocce Rosse. “Red”, like the passion that had animated him in the search for that sanguine and ferrous taste of the land of his ancestors, an indelible imprint in his memory, which the flashes of modernity could not in the least confuse. And so, in a glass of Valtellina Superiore Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse DOCG you can feel the taste of a root that has the strength to challenge granite with its elegant and never snooty armor, with the whisper of the breva that refreshes the Valley.
Grapes: 100% Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo)
Tasting notes: ruby red tending to garnet, the nose expresses all the poignant beauty not only of Arpepe wines but of the whole Valtellina. Noble notes of cherry and plum in alcohol are flanked by hints of cloves, nutmeg and leather. In the mouth it is elegant, dry, fresh and extraordinarily balanced. It closes with a scoop of acidity that only embellishes and delineates its shapes.
Pairings: throughout the meal, the “Rocce Rosse” is Valtellina Superiore to try with great meat-based preparations, including game. Try it with a white truffle risotto.
Format: 750 ml
