Since 1888, the best Sangiovese grapes of the property have been destined for the production of Brunello di Montalcino, one of the most famous red wines in the world. For its Brunello, Argiano selects the grapes from its most noble vineyards and ages the wine in two different types of wood: the first year in French barriques of various sizes to strengthen the innate structure of the wine, the second year in barrels of larger Slavonian oak that allow the wine to balance itself. After aging in wood, the wine is transferred to concrete tanks.
Grapes: 100% Sangiovese
Vinification: Sangiovese grapes are usually harvested between the end of September and mid-October, depending on the type of soil, the exposure of the vineyards and the climatic conditions. The must is fermented in contact with the skins in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature for two or three weeks. The fermentation time varies from one vat to another, depending on the vineyards from which the grapes come. Once the alcoholic fermentation is finished, malolactic fermentation begins spontaneously, a natural process that transforms malic acid into lactic acid and makes the wine soft.
Tasting notes: Argiano’s Brunello di Montalcino stands out for its elegance and intense ruby color. It has a good concentration on the medium palate and a persistent aftertaste, with a round and voluptuous body and interesting silky tannins. It combines power and elegance and heralds a promising future. With its charming aromas of red fruits and its clean freshness, the complexity of this wine shows an optimal balance. To fully enjoy its qualities, decant the wine at least 1 hour before enjoying it.
Pairings: suitable for important combinations with main courses of red meats, roasted, stewed or with noble game.
Format: 750 ml
