Antinori Solaia IGT Toscana Rosso (2013)
Solaia is a vineyard of about 20 hectares facing south-west between 350 and 400 meters above sea level. on a rocky limestone soil with alberese and galestro rock, located at Tenuta Tignanello. Marchesi Antinori produced this wine for the first time with the 1978 vintage; the initial blend was 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, which was repeated in 1979. In subsequent years a 20% Sangiovese was introduced and some corrections were made in the ratio between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, up to get to the current composition. Solaia is only produced in exceptional vintages and was not produced in 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984 and 1992.
Grapes: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Franc
Tasting notes: the wine shows a high intensity of color, which makes it rich and important from the first impact. The nose is dense, complex and dense with varietal and fruity aromatic sensations which include notes of cherry, black cherry, ripe red fruits up to a finish of licorice, coffee and sweet toast. In the mouth the tannins are soft and well balanced. The wine is sapid, mineral but soft; on the final part of the tasting it recalls sweet notes of cocoa, vanilla and red and black fruits. Intense and persistent.
Pairings: ideal with a fillet of beef in porcini mushroom sauce.
Format: 750 ml
