Antinori Guado al Tasso Bolgheri DOC Superiore
Guado al Tasso was produced for the first time in 1990. It takes its name from a curious fact: at Tenuta Guado al Tasso it often happens to see badgers, very shy animals, crossing the fords of water courses and from this his name was resumed. Tenuta Guado al Tasso is about 80 km southwest of Florence, near the medieval town of Bolgheri, in the Alta Maremma. The 1000-hectare estate stretches from the Tyrrhenian coast to the hills where vineyards are cultivated on rocky and slightly calcareous soils.
Grapes: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot
Tasting Notes: The 2013 Guado al Tasso is a wine of great finesse and elegance. On the palate it is more vibrant and silky than ever. In a basically cool year with such a long maturation, Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) has developed and brought to the wine notes of aromatic herbs, spices, mint and a crunchy tannin with a nice persistent flavor. Merlot (27%) brought concentration and consistency to the center of the mouth, with intense and intact notes of plum and small black fruits. The Cabernet Franc (20%), very characterized, has brought elegance both to the nose and in the mouth and intensified the aftertaste with notes of cassis and licorice. Finally, the Petit Verdot (3%) combined very well, emphasizing the spicy component.
Pairings: throughout the meal, it goes well with rich meat-based main courses, especially braised.
Format: 750 ml
