The propulsive thrust that this company has given to Brunello is also revealed by the introduction of the concept of Cru: Montosoli is in fact a vineyard of about 5 hectares in the north-eastern area of Montalcino at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters, whose grapes were vinified separately for the first time with the 1975 harvest. The composition of the soil (marly limestone and siliceous limestone referable to Alberese with lithoid components from the same period), the favorable exposure and the particular microclimate contribute to the ripening of the grapes which produce a wine of extreme complexity and elegance. The Altesino for its Cru Montosoli obtained an important international recognition when Wine Spectator defined it as the second most representative vineyard of the Italian reality. Brunello Montosoli was made in the following vintages: 1975- 1976 – 1979 – 1982 – 1985 – 1986 – 1988 – 1990 – 1993 – 1995 – 1997 – 1998 – 1999 – 2001 – 2003 – 2004 – 2005 – 2006 – 2007 – 2008 – 2009 – 2010 – 2011 – 2012.
Grapes: 100% Sangiovese
Tasting notes: Brunello Montosoli has an intense ruby red color which fades into garnet with ageing. The nose denotes an exceptional personality with notes of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, violet, licorice, vanilla and slight hints of pink pepper. In the mouth it reveals a dry, warm, velvety flavour, a rich texture and a noble breed. The finish is warm and long-lasting.
Pairings: Red meats, roasts, noble game.
